Alpha Xi Delta's Sisterhood Events by Aiden Gibbs
Hi everyone! I’m Aiden, and I’m the Alpha Xi Sisterhood Director here at the Gamma Eta chapter. I love this position because it lets me get to know other sisters better, try new things, and practice my planning skills. Looking back on this semester, we’ve had some thrilling sisterhood events, both virtually and in-person!
Bob Ross Night
Our sisters got the chance to tune into their creative side at our second sisterhood event, Bob Ross Night. We all painted a beautiful landscape and bonded over our “happy accidents.” We even had a sister from Dartmouth join us at this event. It’s always great to meet sisters from other chapters!
Trivia Night
For our first sisterhood event, I hosted trivia at the Alpha Xi house. So many of our sisters love trivia at Rocky Mountain Pizza near campus, so I wanted to give them the opportunity to do something they love while getting to know a different group of people. We had all sorts of questions, snacks, and music filling the house that night, making our first sisterhood event a huge success! Shoutout to Dani, Annie, and Courtney for winning, lol!
Hiking at Kennesaw Mountain
I love getting active, especially when the weather is nice! We had the best time hiking at Kennesaw Mountain, which is only 30 minutes away from campus. The easy hike up the mountain gave us time to bond and chat about anything and everything!
La Fonda Lunch
Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but you can always make the most of it! When we discovered our reservation at another nearby restaurant didn’t go through, we decided to pivot and grab La Fonda for lunch instead. It was such an expected turn of events, and because we’re all sisters, everyone had a great attitude. We had such a great time and ate the best Mexican food!
Tea Party
This was hands-down my favorite sisterhood event. We rented out a room and patio Dr. Bombay’s, allowing us a socially-distanced tea party. We had delicious pastries, quiches, and tea all while meeting new sisters. If you ever get the chance to check out this tea room, I highly suggest it! Everything was amazing and the library-like atmosphere was straight out of my cottagecore, light academia dreams.
Strawberry Picking
Strawberries are my favorite fruit, so as soon as they were in season I thought about scheduling strawberry picking as a sisterhood event. We went to Southern Belle Farms, about 40 minutes away from Tech. I shared a gallon of strawberries with Maddy, and Tanvi took the cutest pictures while we were there!
Trampoline Park
To wrap up the semester, we rented out a trampoline park on Reading Day. This let our sisters get some physical activity and destress before finals. Fun fact: Allison taught me how to do a front flip for the first time at this event!
I’ve already had so much fun with this position and can’t wait to continue it in the fall. What sort of events would you enjoy?
