Statement, Resources, and Support from Alpha Xi Delta

George Floyd

Breonna Taylor

Ahmaud Arbery

Our hearts are with their families and friends as they mourn the senseless deaths of their loved ones.

Today, we remember them, along with every Black life lost to police brutality, racial injustice, and white supremacy.

To our sisters of color, friends, and family:

Alpha Xi Delta sees you, and your Sisters are here for you.

We cannot stay silent. Alpha Xi Delta does not stand for racism, xenophobia, police brutality, and any other form of social injustice that impacts communities of color. Alpha Xi Delta members pledged themselves to our values and to live in courage, graciousness, and peace.

Have the courage to speak up.

Have the grace to listen and educate yourself.

Pray for peace and be a person who works to bring peace to the world.

We are urging our members to condemn acts of bigotry, violence, and hatred. Whether that is at the dinner table, on your campus, or in your workplace, use your voice to speak out against acts of racism and to promote inclusion and diversity.

When we know better, we do better. Alpha Xi Delta would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge that within our 127 years of existence, we have not always been inclusive to people of color, different religions, sexual orientations and abilities. For this, we are sorry and acknowledge the pain we have caused.

Alpha Xi Delta is committed to working toward creating additional and better resources for our members that address diversity, inclusivity, social justice, advocacy, equality, and more. We now know better.

For now, we want to share resources for our Sisters who are looking to educate themselves and start taking action now.

  • What are you doing to speak out?

  • We are always looking for more women of color to write and contribute to our blog, The Quill and our social media. We want to share your stories, amplify your voice, educate fellow Sisters and encourage change. Email us at quilleditor@alphaxidelta.org.
