Oxford Study Abroad Program Highlight (by Anna Bonatz)

Oxford Program

Hey everyone, I’m Anna!

One of my biggest dreams has always been to travel, so studying abroad was something that was automatically on my radar as soon as I got to college. My goal was to see as many cities as physically possible while learning as much as I could. While I was asking people about programs and doing some research, the Oxford Program was my perfect choice.

There are two portions of the Oxford Program – the travel portion and the Oxford portion. During the travel portion, the whole program is split into three groups, and each group travels to 9 cities on a bus while simultaneously taking two classes about art and music history in those cities. Then, you ride the bus to Oxford where you take two more classes during which you are allowed and encouraged to travel on the weekends. The best part of the Oxford program in my mind is the fact that you get to learn so much about the cities that you travel to during the travel portion.

For example, Group 2 went to..

  • Berlin, Germany

  • Leipzig, Germany

  • Prague, Czech Republic

  • Krakow, Poland

  • Vienna, Austria

  • Venice, Italy

  • Rome, Italy

  • Florence, Italy

  • Chamonix, France

  • & Paris, France !

I was lucky to be surrounded and supported by my Alpha Xi Delta sisters during both the travel portion and the Oxford portion. These girls were my biggest supporters and my rock while we were pushed out of our comfort zones. Whether it be by waking me up at 5AM so that we don’t miss our museum tour or by making me laugh, the support system that I have developed through Alpha Xi made my study abroad experience the adventure of a lifetime!
