Alpha Xi Delta's Amazing Social Events (by Social Chair Caroline!)
Hi everyone! I’m Caroline Devlin, this year’s Chapter Events Director!
I’ve always been a big believer in balance, which is why when I first arrived at Georgia Tech just three short years ago (wow, am I that OLD already?), I really wanted to find a place that prioritized taking time out of a busy academic schedule to spend time with friends, meet new people, and have some fun! Little did I know how easy Alpha Xi Delta made this for me! Within the first 2 weeks of Bid Day, our chapter events director announced the social calendar for the semester and I was shocked at how packed it was (not to mention how in awe I was of her for coming up with so many different events!). Through the years, some of my favorite memories of Georgia Tech have surrounded these social events like my first mixer, Biker’s Ball, where Ashmita invited me to her room to get ready with dark lipstick and gold eyeliner, last year’s formal at the Biltmore where I rode an electric scooter in my heels and dress to get there because the venue was so close, and our first My Tie this past fall when all of my friends and I stuffed our faces with pizzas that showed up 5 minutes before the event started.
Because these social events had been such a large part of my college experience, I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to plan these events for the rest of my sisters! My favorite event that I enjoyed planning was this year’s Crush Party, one of Alpha Xi Delta’s bigger events. Each sister has the option to invite two people (anonymously if they wish!) to attend the event, dress up, and dance the night away. I wanted to find a venue in Atlanta that we hadn’t hosted any of our events at before and that would get people excited for something new, which is why I decided to host the event at The Tabernacle, a staple concert venue right in Midtown! The theme was Happy Holidays!, where everyone came dressed up as a different holiday - and people got so creative with it (I’m looking at you Mckensie…or should I say President’s Day, Abe Lincoln?). It was so awesome to see everyone having such a good time at an event that I’d worked so hard to plan!
