Dear Best Friend... Love, Maddie

Dear Ansley,

I can’t believe that it has only been almost a year since you and I became friends during our new member period. There is no one I would have rather had to navigate the first few months of college with. So many of my favorite memories from freshman year have you in them, and I cannot imagine it any other way! From scream-singing country music on the front porch of Alpha Xi during our freshman homecoming sleepover, to having every class together second semester freshman year, you have helped Georgia Tech and Alpha Xi feel like home.

I am beyond grateful for how much you have helped me grow as a person over the past year. Thinking back to myself at the beginning of freshman year, I had half of the confidence and half of the work ethic that I have now. Having a best friend in my same major as a constant study partner was a complete game changer in how I developed as a student. You encouraged me to hold myself accountable more so than I had ever been able to do alone. You also encouraged me to go out of my comfort zone, introducing me to new people and making new friends alongside me.

I cannot wait to see what this next year holds for us, and am absolutely ecstatic to be roommates in just 12 days! While our daily coffee runs and weekly yoga classes will definitely look different this year, I know that we will continue to make the most of our experience at Georgia Tech and in Alpha Xi. I’m so excited to see what the next three (plus) years will look like for us! Thanks for being the best best friend i could ask for :)

Love,

Maddie Tapp
