Dear Best Friend... Love, Anjali

Dear Jessa,

It really is true that you don’t need to know someone for that long for them to turn into a best friend. You are someone I only met a few months ago, yet it took me only just 2 weeks of knowing you to call you a best friend. You have a sense of love and care for every person you meet, and you never fail to put a smile on my face. You’re the person I go to for anything and everything. You are there when I’m stuck in a tough situation, when I want to rant about little things, and you’re always there when I want to make a quick ice cream and sprinkles run at Brittain on a Tuesday night.

The best friendships in life are the ones where you can’t even pinpoint the exact moment you became friends. That’s what happened between me and you. I don’t remember the specifics on what started our friendship, but I do know Alpha Xi was the reason. I loved going to meals at the houses when I first became a member of Alpha Xi. Now, I make sure you’re at every meal with me. When I first joined Alpha Xi, I didn’t know many people and would spend most of my day in my dorm. Now, I spend every waking minute with my outside of class. You are someone that I love so very much, and you are my rock.

I had such a strong feeling that I wouldn’t have any close friendships during first semester of college. You proved me wrong. You have had such an extraordinary impact on my life, and I wouldn’t trade this friendship for the world. I am forever grateful to have someone like you in my life. You push me out of my comfort zone and support me in everything I do. We go hours on end just talking about life and I can always be myself around you. I can never thank you enough for always checking up on me and bringing me to-go food from Alpha Xi to PG 3. You are such a hardworking person and I admire the courage and strength that you have.

Thank you for the fun Publix runs, the weekly CCF runs, and the late-night library sessions where we get no work done. You are a ball of sunshine and I know that you are going to go such amazing places in life. I am so excited for studying abroad with you this summer at Oxford, and I can’t wait to see what the next four years and beyond looks like. This is more than just a college friendship. This is one that will last a lifetime, and I can’t thank Alpha Xi enough for you. I love you endlessly my Cincinnati girl, and I am immensely proud to call you my best friend.

With all the love in the world,

Anjali
