Dear Best Friend... Love, Katie
Dear Taylor,
When I think back on my favorite memories in my first year of college, I literally cannot come up with one without you in it. And now, in the middle of quarantine I cannot think of one day in the past three months that we went without facetiming each other. I have never met a person that I mesh with so well, that I feel like somehow we can read each other's minds. I know this is true because there have been so any situations where we watch something happen and look up at each other at the exact same moment, knowing we each have the exact same thought. Scary.
I admire your passion for the things that mean the most to you in life including your friends, your family, Alpha Xi Delta, and Cardi B. I admire your strength to be yourself no matter what, and you have spread that confidence to me over this past year. I admire your willingness to try new things, and your sense of adventure like when we drove an hour away to stuff our faces with Truett’s Luau Chick Fil A. I admire your love for the city of Atlanta and your personal connection with the Pencil Building. I admire the way you can comfort me when I am feeling down by always managing to put a smile on my face. I’ve never seen two people laugh over the littlest things as much as we do.
I have so many amazing and hilarious times and stories that I could tell from my friendship with you. As far as I can think, most of those memories consist of us sitting on my futon watching the most recent season of Love Island rooting for Paige and Finn while you knitted a scarf just because you could. A lot of them also come from our late nights at the CULC, especially in our semester-long battle with the vending machines and that time we ordered pizza from the Shaq Papa Johns at like 11:30 pm. I can’t wait to create more memories as roommates this coming year.
I am beyond grateful for Alpha Xi for connecting me with so many amazing women, but most of all for giving me my best friend. You truly are a woman that encompasses our core values, and I cannot think of anyone else I would by my side for the next 3(ish) years. You are a beautiful, courageous, and free-spirited human being, and I can’t wait to see where life takes you.
